Guys. I think I've found the best slippers ever. They're warm, cozy, breathable, 100% natural, and ethically handmade. So they're basically the perfect Christmas gift. Meet BAABUK slippers!
BAABUK is a Swiss startup created by a young couple who have a passion for wool. Their slipper story began when they received a gift of Russian “valenki” boots, a traditional style that's been helping fend off the Siberian cold since the 16th century. They look kinda like this:
That proven, centuries-old design became the inspiration for BAABUK's first collection. They partnered with talented craftspeople in Nepal, launched their Kickstarter campaign, and the rest is history.
BAABUK now sells a variety of handcrafted 100% wool shoes and slippers all over the world, and lucky for us, they've just launched in Canada!
BAABUK's new Canadian webstore offers a variety of styles for women, men, and kids in a rainbow of colours. Whether you love hot pink, sunshine yellow, or classic grey, they've got a pair for you.
I suggest starting with the classic GUS style, which is what you're seeing throughout my post. They're $119.99/pair for adults, and $84.99 for kids. They're the perfect cozy Christmas gift! Better yet, grab a pair for you and your other half so you can cozy up together this winter.
BAABUK kindly sent hubs and I two pairs of GUS slippers and we love, love, love them. Here's why:
-super warm yet don't make your feet sweat
-no need for socks, barefoot is best
-half our condo is sub-level and these are great on cold floors
-perfect for chilly days at the cottage
Real talk: hubs and I have both owned slippers by a well-known Aussie brand (rhymes with pug), and while we loved those, we honest to goodness think these are better. Because:
-they're even lighter on your feet
-they don't generate static when you walk
That last one's a biggie because dry indoor heating plus slippers usually equals static city!
