eating evolvd: heathy meals delivered (giveaway)

I've never been one for new year's resolutions but I did have a few too many Christmas cookies this year, and when January rolled around I was ready to lighten things up. Except the thing is, I hate cooking. I'm terrible at it and I have no time. Soooo.... that makes eating healthy tough. You know?

Not anymore.

A few weeks ago I found out about a new Ottawa business making wholesome paleo, vegetarian, and gluten-free meals, and they're delivered right to your neighbourhood. Meet Eating Evolvd!

Eating Evolvd is a 100% gluten free meal delivery service with menu choices that include paleo, vegetarian, and whole food meals. You can order anywhere from 3 to 10 chef-prepared fresh meals per week, and they'll be ready for pickup at your local gym, CrossFit, or or yoga facility.

What's that? Your gym or studio isn't on the list yet? No problem! You can either choose pick-up at the closest participating location or shoot the Eating Evolvd folks an email to get your favourite fitness studio on board.

Their mission is to make healthy eating convenient and delicious for everyone, and this totally takes the guesswork out of cooking nutritious meals. Here's how it works in a nutshell:

Easy, right? I've got a $100 Eating Evolvd gift card to give away so take a peek at this week's menu and start thinking about what to order!

Looks pretty good, eh? This ain't diet food, this is real food.

And in case you've been wanting to add more real food to your diet, Eating Evolvd just launched their 2016 Real Food Challenge. This is all about choosing real, wholesome, made from scratch meals, whether you want to loose weight, gain weight, or just eat healthier. You decide what size suits you, pick your meals, and add them to your cart. Then they'll work with you via email to find out what you like, what you don't like, and any allergies, then they'll custom-build your menu.

Each meal plan is designed by a registered dietitian, prepared by a professional culinary team, and contains no refined sugars, preservatives or processed ingredients. 5-day plans that include a total of 10 meals start at just $110, and you can upgrade your plan to include larger portion sizes, daily breakfasts, and plenty of snacks.

I priced out a 5-day plan that included daily breakfast, lunches, and dinners, plus 3 snacks per day (that's 15 snacks in total, these folks don't want you going hungry!), and the total came to $197.50. Are you kidding me?! That's an entire work week of absolutley zero cooking for yours truly, plus healthy, nutritious meals AND heaps of snacks. For under $200.

I'm ashamed to say that when I'm busy I often resort to fast food, but can you imagine what a week of take-out would cost me? Don't get me wrong, I love me some delivery every now and then, but it ain't cheap and it sure ain't healthy.

I've now tried several of EatingEvolved's meals: African chicken with spiced green beans; Spicy African chicken, Texas chili with sweet potato, Chicken fajitas and slaw, and Spicy Carribean dream (salad in a jar!). All were delicious and filling, and I'm now thinking seriously about ordering a full meal plan when my busiest stretch at work hits in a few weeks. But enough about me, let's talk about you. And get you some meals!
